For a lot of us, feeling our feelings is the hardest part.

If you grew up without consistent emotional support—or even if you did, but were part of a family or culture where feelings were discouraged or misunderstood—you may have learned early on that it wasn’t welcome or safe to express your feelings. In many cultures, shame, blame, punishment, and reward are used to shape behavior. Feelings can be seen as weak, disruptive, or too much. Even the English language muddies the waters—using phrases like “I feel like that’s wrong,” which makes it harder to know what we’re actually feeling.

Maybe you learned to downplay, reject, or numb what was happening inside—because no one was consistently there, or emotionally attuned enough, to help you make sense of it.

This group is a space to shift that pattern.

We’ll slow things down and practice:

  • Bringing compassion and awareness to how you relate to your emotions
  • Naming, allowing, and being with your feelings—without judgment
  • Exploring the difference between thoughts and feelings
  • Tracking body signals and sensations
  • Linking your feelings with parts of yourself such as the inner child, inner teen, inner critic
  • Recognizing what you’re needing underneath the emotional waves

Just like kids need a steady, attuned caregiver to help them regulate when things become overwhelming, we begin to offer ourselves that kind of presence now. That’s what reparenting is—not fixing ourselves, but learning how to be with ourselves in a new way.

Together, we build emotional capacity—the ability to be with and move through hard feelings without checking out or turning against ourselves. We also practice being with pleasant and neutral states—like joy, calm, or ease—that we may have overlooked or learned to avoid. Over time, this helps us reconnect with the full range of our emotional life. It helps us connect more deeply with our own humanity. What some traditions call the ability to be with the 10,000 joys and 10,000 sorrows.
